One of the most exciting developments underway for our industry is the new Online Manufacturing Certifier Training Programme, being developed through a collaboration between Engineering New Zealand, industry subject matter experts, and manufacturing certifiers from across the sector.
What began as a TTMF-delivered training course has evolved into a comprehensive online learning platform comprising approximately 17 specialist modules covering regulatory requirements, quality management systems, engineering drawings, welding, inspections, load restraint systems, towing connections, and other key areas of industry knowledge.
The programme represents hundreds of hours of development, technical input, and industry review to ensure the content is practical, relevant, and reflective of real-world workshop and certification environments.
Importantly, the programme is not solely focused on developing future manufacturing certifiers. It will also provide a valuable resource for workshops looking to upskill staff, refresh knowledge, support succession planning, and promote greater consistency across the industry.
Council was given a demonstration of the platform and was impressed by the quality of the content developed to date. Once launched, the programme will provide a modern, accessible training pathway that strengthens capability, professionalism, and technical competency across New Zealand's truck and trailer manufacturing sector.
Watch this space. The launch of the Online Manufacturing Certifier Training Programme is now firmly on the horizon and marks one of the most significant training initiatives developed for our industry in recent years. We look forward to sharing more details soon. Exciting times ahead.
